Still I Walk was inspired by the raw honesty of Psalm 129 and one of the most important lessons we can learn about perseverance: perseverance is endurance with direction.
The Psalmist doesn't pretend the pain never happened. He remembers the wounds. He remembers the scars. He describes his back as though someone had plowed deep furrows across it. Biblical perseverance isn't denying what happened, minimizing the hurt, or pretending everything is okay.
But it also means not living in that painful place forever.
Psalm 129 looks back at everything Israel had endured and makes this incredible declaration:
“...but they have never defeated me.” — Psalm 129:2 NLT
Then comes the turning point:
“But the LORD is good; he has cut me free from the ropes of the ungodly.” — Psalm 129:4 NLT
That's the heart behind Still I Walk.
Remember the scars—but don't let them determine your direction. Remember what happened—but also remember the God who cut the ropes. You may have been wounded. You may have been knocked down. You may still carry reminders of what you've been through.
But you weren't defeated.
So join your voice with the Psalmist and keep moving toward God:
They didn't defeat me.God cut the ropes.And still I walk.

“You Surround Us” was written from the powerful picture found in Psalm 125:
“Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, both now and forever.” — Psalm 125:2 NLT
Psalm 125 doesn’t promise that following God means the road will always be easy. There will be seasons when everything around us feels shaky, when evil seems to be winning, when doing the right thing gets difficult, and when a crooked road looks easier than continuing to faithfully follow Jesus.
But the Psalm reminds us of something bigger: our security isn’t found in everything around us being stable. Our security is found in the God who surrounds us.
That is the heart behind “You Surround Us.”
The song begins with the image of Mount Zion—steady and secure—and moves into the Psalm’s very practical challenge to keep trusting God when life gets hard. It asks God to protect our hearts from bitterness, keep us from wandering onto crooked roads, and give us the strength to continue walking faithfully with Him.
The chorus comes directly from the central image of Psalm 125:
“As the mountains surround JerusalemSo the Lord surrounds His people…”
And the song closes as a prayer for shalom—the peace, wholeness, and goodness of God—for His people, His Church, our friends and families, and ultimately our own hearts.
Wherever you are on your journey today, Psalm 125 gives us a simple reminder worth singing:

Jesus Above Everything was inspired by one of the oldest worship songs in Christian history—the beautiful hymn Paul included in Philippians 2:5–11. Written just a few decades after Jesus' resurrection, these words reminded the believers in Philippi of who Jesus is, what He willingly did for us, and why He alone deserves our worship.
Paul didn't include this hymn simply to teach theology. He introduced it by saying, "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had." As we sing these truths, we're doing more than remembering history—we're asking God to shape our hearts and minds to become more like Jesus. He humbled Himself, became a servant, obeyed the Father, died on the cross, and was exalted above every name.
Our prayer is that this song helps lift your eyes off yourself and back onto Christ. May singing these words remind you that true greatness is found in humility, true leadership is found in serving, and Jesus Christ is Lord—above every name, above every circumstance, and above everything.

"Buried with Christ" was inspired by the New Testament's beautiful picture of baptism—not simply as a personal milestone, but as a public declaration that our old life has been buried with Christ and we have been raised to walk in a new life (Romans 6:3–4).
This song is a reminder that following Jesus is more than believing a set of truths. It's a lifelong journey of surrender, grace, and faithfully walking with Him day by day. Every chorus is an opportunity to declare together: "Jesus, forever I am Yours."
